Returning to school after Lockdown
Eilidh (S3)
Coming back to school during covid-19 has definitely been very different from what it was like before. Pre-covid we didn’t have to sanitize our hand multiple times a day, wear mask in corridors or wipe down our tables at the beginning and end of classes, so it has been quite a culture shock! But apart from that it has had its positives and negatives on my mental health, it has been amazing to be able to see my friends every day and have face to face lessons with my teachers, but there is some negatives that have come with coming back during covid-19. One that has been particularly difficult for me is being in a school with a large amount of people who for all I know could have been in contact with virus, so that has brought a lot of stress and worry. I was more worried about that kind of stuff at the beginning of August when everything felt do strange but now I think the positives have out-weighed the negatives and I feel being back at school has been a mostly positive experience for me.

My experience of coming back to school has been good but strange to adapt to all the new rules, such as cleaning our desks at the beginning and end of the periods and wearing face masks in corridors and the canteen. On my first day back I was nervous as to what is would be like, and if we would be able to still sit next to our peers in classes. It has been good all over and I am loving it even though we aren’t back to normal.

My lockdown was a new experience for me because I was spending a lot more time with my family and was not seeing my friends. When I would see them it would be on facetime or at a 2m distance. It was fun sending more time with my family because we were doing a lot of baking and cooking and making new meals and desserts. Me and my family would try and go a long walk/cycle every day and still are.
